At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, a position as Laboratory Engineer in Desalination for Power to X application is open for appointment from 1 January 2026 or soon hereafter. The employment period is for 2 years.
Your work tasks
In this role, you will support the development and testing of membrane-based desalination systems for Power-to-X applications. Your work will include developing and operating laboratory- and pilot-scale desalination setups, preparing and characterizing membrane materials, and contributing to the development of membrane modules. You will also be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and documenting experimental data. The position involves close collaboration with the research team and external partners, and you will play an active role in both laboratory activities and the practical implementation of the pilot system.
Your competencies
We are looking for a colleague with a background in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, environmental technology, or a related field, preferably at the bachelor or master’s level. You should have experience with laboratory work and an interest in experimental methods related to membranes, filtration, or water treatment. Familiarity with operating laboratory equipment and documenting experiments is important, as is the ability to work in a structured and independent manner.
• A master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, environmental technology, or a related field.
• Excellent oral and written English language skills are a requirement.
• The applicant must be interested in working in an interdisciplinary research environment.
• A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to collaborate closely with both academic and industry partners.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory work, including operation, testing, and development of desalination systems and modules.
• Experience with membrane research and development is an advantage but not required.

Salary and terms of employment
Employment and salary are in accordance with the Collective Agreement for Academic Staff Employed in the State Sector (in Danish). Qualification-based supplements may be granted, subject to negotiation.
There is a 3-month mutual trial period.
