At The Department of Sociology and Social Work, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, a position as postdoc in criminology is available from December 1st or as soon as possible thereafter. The employment will be for a period of 2 years.
The position is part of a strategic effort to strengthen criminological research in cybercrime; it is fully funded and carries no teaching requirements. The postdoc is expected to conduct research on an independent project and to apply for research funding in collaboration with established researchers in the department.
The independent research project should address cybercrime, whether cyber-enabled or -dependent, and may cover topics such as:
• Victimization
• Offenders
• Hybridization of crime
• Illicit online markets
• Fraud
• Cybersecurity
The project may address national or international problems, and should do so using appropriate methods, qualitative and/or quantitative. Access to Danish data sources, such as registry data, respondents, organizations, or surveys, will be supported to the best of the ability of senior researchers. The project should have a clear potential to generate research at the international level, produce publications in leading journals, and secure future funding.
During the employment period, the postdoc will be supervised by senior researchers and will work in close collaboration with them to produce research on their independent project. The department will support activities that align with the goal of securing funding and will support the general career development of the postdoc.
Post Doctoral position
The position will be heavily weighted in favour of research. In addition, the postdoc is expected to engage in activities related to securing external research funding in collaboration with senior researchers in the department. The performance of other duties may be required to a limited extent. The university determines the exact weighting of the various responsibilities. The weighting of the various responsibilities may vary over time.
Appointment as a postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University. Appointment at postdoc level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark, however max. six years at Assistant Professor level - which includes postdoc - at the same institution.
Qualification requirements
Appointment as postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications.
The postdoc should have a background in criminology or a related field, and documented research experience. The postdoc should have experience with publishing in international journals in criminology and related fields. As the position does not carry teaching responsibilities, fluency in Danish is not a requirement.
