At The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Aalborg University Business School, one full-time Assistant Professor and one full-time Associate Professor in Economics are open for appointments from 1 December 2026 or soon thereafter. The assistant professor position is for a maximum of 4 years. The associate professor positions are permanent.
Aalborg University Business School is situated at Aalborg University, a university with world-class research in many disciplines. With this as a guiding principle, the Business School plays a major role in bridge the gap between business and science that helps commercialise inventions and generate business growth. The prerequisite for this is relevant research of the highest quality. We have a strategy of publishing our research in leading journals in our fields. We consider current trends and issues in all the knowledge we produce. Only then can we contribute to business-critical insights that make a difference in society. The candidate will become a member of the macroeconomic research group MaMTEP, and the candidate is expected to take an active part in ongoing MaMTEP research projects in general.
As an applicant for this position, you are expected to have strong research potential within economics. You will be expected to actively participate professionally and socially in the economics research group.
We welcome applicants with qualifications within either of the following profiles:
Profile 1: Microeconomics and Microeconometrics
Microeconomic theory and applied microeconomics
Microeconometric methods
Empirical research based on administrative and register data
Profile 2: Macroeconomics and Macroeconomic Modelling
Macroeconomic theory, including competing paradigms and approaches
Theoretical and empirical macroeconomic modelling
Large-scale macroeconometric modelling and policy analysis
Applicants are expected to have strong methodological skills, and the position will mainly contribute to the economics degree in terms of teaching but also other relevant courses at the business school and in adjacent departments.

Assistant professor
Appointment as assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
Associate professor
Appointment as an associate professor requires research and teaching qualifications at the level that can be achieved through the satisfactory completion of a period of employment as an assistant professor but may also be obtained in other ways.
It is a precondition that applicants have documented research at an international standard. In addition, applicants are assumed to have received supervision and pedagogical skills development and to have obtained a positive written assessment of their teaching qualifications.
Who we are
The Macroeconomic Methodology, Theory and Economic Policy Research Group (MAMTEP) at Aalborg University Business School (AAUBS) focuses on the complexities of the processes of adjustment in a modern monetary macroeconomic system. As the context of modern economies is one of globalisation and increasing interdependencies between countries, the complexities of the processes of adjustment in a modern monetary macroeconomic system become very important to study.

Salary and terms of employment
The employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities (in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (in Danish).
Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state (AC collective agreement) (only in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (only in Danish).
There is a mutual probationary period of 3 months for the position.
